Devizes Child Contact Centre has provided a neutral place where children of separated families can enjoy contact with their non-resident parents, and sometimes other family members in a comfortable and safe environment, for 17 years.
About ten volunteers take turns on a rota on Saturday afternoons
The Centre is open for two hours on a Saturday afternoon, twice a month in a hall of one of the Devizes Churches. Volunteers prepare the room, welcome parents and supervise the sessions. Each volunteer does 3 or 4 sessions in 6 months. There are always three volunteers at each session. Training is given.
Saturday 25th March 2017
The Devizes Child Contact Centre is holding its Annual General Meeting on Sat. 25th March, 2pm, at St. Andrew’s Church, Long Street, Devizes, SN10 1NJ. All those concerned about the on-going provision of this valuable local service (to families under the stress of separation) are invited to attend.
Following a positive, informal meetingon 11th March of 20 current and new Volunteers, the AGM will elect Officers for the new Committee and set in place arrangements for the Centre to open again for its twice-monthly sessions. This will involve exploring how to find a new Co-Ordinator, possibly by dividing the Role between two or three people, in order to increase flexibility and share the responsibilities.
