Advent Eve Taize Service

Posted by John Saunders on 28 November 2016

The church bells called us to St. Mary's Church on a cold, crisp evening. We came from our different churches to focus  together, in stillness on the lordship of Jesus Christ. The chancel was simply lit by groups of beautiful red candles and the space was filled with the sound of monastic-style chants accompanied by a pianist and flutist.

Prayers and a bible reading led us into a spieclal time of silent worship. This was followed by prayers of concern for others punctuated by the chant, "Oh Lord hear my prayer". We all moved forward to light candles and place them with the others that formed a cross shape on the floor of the chancel.

It was good to worship the Lord Jesus in the quietness together. Thank you to those who prepared this oppportunity for us.
