Devizes Child Contact Centre - About to Close?

Posted by Tony Trodd on 12 February 2017

About to Close? Sessions will be suspended after 25th February UNLESS for new volunteer Committee members come forward. In particular a Treasurer, Chair and Co-ordinator of Saturday volunteers need to be found, A new Co-ordinator for Centre and Family Bookings is also needed to replace the dedicated volunteer who is moving sideways to take on being Secretary.

How things work? About ten volunteers take turns on a Saturday afternoon rota: The Centre is open for two hours on a Saturday afternoon, twice a month, in a hall of one of Devizes Churches. Volunteers prepare the room, welcome parents and supervise the Family Sessions. Each volunteer does 3 or 5 sessions over 6 months. There are always three volunteers at each session. Training is given.

The Committee? They meet every two to three months: They oversee and support the Family Sessions. Funding is in place for the coming year, from Children in Need. The National Association of Child Contact Centres' requirements stipulate the need for a team/committee to share training and experience if a Centre is to run.
