Farewell Father Philip and welcome Father Jose

Posted by John Saunders on 6 July 2015

Father JoseFr Philip has been Parish Priest of Our Lady’s for just under two years.  He will be returning to Westminster Diocese, but has not yet been assigned a parish.  He remains in the parish house, where he will support Fr Jose, and will formally take up his new appointment in early September.  Fr Philip has been a very caring and kindly pastor during his time in Our Lady’s, and he will leave with the affection and prayers of his parishioners.

Welcome to Father Jose
Fr Jose (pronounced Jos) has already formally taken over as Parish Priest, and is getting to know his parishioners, and they are getting to know him.  He is a native of Kerala, India, and has until recently held a teaching post in a seminary there.

Like Fr Philip, he is a member of the Congregation of Missionaries of St Francis de Sales.  He is not unfamiliar with our diocese and parish, having previously served for a year as Assistant Priest in Yeovil, and for a year (1999) in Devizes.  He has also served as Parish Priest in Hampton Hill (London) and in Atlanta, Georgia, and in Alabama.  We hope he will be very happy with us here in Devizes.

We wish Fr Philip every blessing in his new ministry, and to both men we give assurance of our prayers.
