Harvest Supper 2016

Posted by John Saunders on 7 November 2016

This year the United Harvest Supper was held at St. Andrew's Church and good folk from St. Peter's as well as St. Andrew's saw to all the arrangements. It felt very right to praise and thank God together for His creation, all the benefits that we gain from it and all we can share with others.

We sang, we chatted, we ate, we watched a presentation on the screen of life  in Malawi. There was a quiz which got us thinking about the effects of climate change on harvests and to consider what we, as God's stewards, should be doing to help everyone (especially the most vulnerable) to be more resiliant in the face of changes in climate.

That evening, eighty people from across the churches, raised just over £300 for Christian Aid and as we left, many of us were very aware that  we need to find some radical, new ways of helping to look after God's creation.
